Choo Yilin Artisan Jewellery is a multiple international
award-winning jewellery brand that seeks to fuse sustainability and luxury. The label has been featured regularly in
local and international press, including the UK's Financial Times' How To Spend It.
Work first started with the Karen hilltribe artisans in northern Thailand, drawing awareness and bringing support
to a centuries-old culture which might otherwise be in danger of dying out. In this way, the label sheds light on
the effects modernity has on indigenous cultures like the Karen.
The company has since expanded its sustainability outreach, not only by using reclaimed metals but also by
researching and developing other methods to "green" the supply chain. In addition, its partners include
non-profit groups such as the World Wildlife Fund, with their issues of forest and marine conservation
communicated through the company’s jewellery design.
Contrary to the high-polish and symmetry that has dictated high-end jewellery for so long, Choo Yilin has a
preference for included gemstones and textured metals. With designs that are always organic and asymmetrical,
the underlying philosophy is about applauding life in all its imperfect beauty.
